App previews
Run an app, interact with it and send precise feedback to your agent.
On this page
Open the app
- An available host with access to the project.
- Installed project dependencies and a working start command.
-
Choose Open app
Open the workspace and choose Open app. Lyre uses the saved or discovered startup configuration. If setup is missing, choose the appropriate script in project settings. Configure startup.
-
Wait for readiness
Read the startup status and output. A process starting is separate from the app becoming reachable. If it fails, open the diagnostic details or its terminal output.
-
Try the app
Click, type and navigate in the running preview. Use its return control to get back to your workspace.
App and Agent have independent lifecycles. Stopping the agent does not stop an unrelated app; closing a viewer and stopping its process are separate controls.
Use preview controls
Preview opens in a full-screen presentation by default. Enable browser Back and Forward controls when you need them; showing these controls preserves the current app. Use the existing reload, viewport size, zoom and preview-selection controls where your device supports them.
Saved preview sets keep your selected views together. Native targets appear only when their required tools and target are available on the host. A browser preview and a native simulator are different targets.
Show what needs changing
Use Screenshot, Crop screenshot or the supported annotation controls to capture the relevant app view. Review the image before attaching it. Preview errors can also be added as context. These actions prepare an unsent draft; you choose when to Send.
Use Tests for a recognized project test script, then inspect the terminal result. For a shareable snapshot of changes, notes and screenshots, choose Prepare a review.
Preview on another device
Connect the device, then open the authorized project or shared app. Keep the host awake and reachable. A private preview uses the host's access grants; a public website URL has a different boundary.
App-only viewers use the restricted shared-app surface. They can interact with the chosen app and its supported downloads without gaining agent, source or terminal access. See Share your app.
Recover a preview
- Startup failed
- Read the error and script output, then check dependencies, command and listening port on the selected host.
- The connection ended
- Restore host connectivity and use Reconnect. Check that the device still has access.
- The idle countdown appears
- Choose Keep running if you are still using the preview. Five minutes without interaction closes an idle viewer without stopping the app process.
- Sign-in needs another window
- For an app integrated with preview sign-in, use Continue sign-in on the requesting device. The app must complete and verify its own login; Lyre returning to the preview is not proof of authentication.
