Can I use Claude Code from my phone?
Yes. Lyre lets an authorized phone connect to a Claude Code conversation running on your computer. The computer runs the agent, project tools and app; the phone sends requests, receives progress and opens the live preview. Keep that host awake and online while you work.
What you need first
- Lyre installed on the computer containing your project. Check current downloads and device support before choosing a client.
- The browser client or a supplied compatible phone client. Follow device pairing rather than assuming a public mobile-store download is available.
- The host owner has connected Claude Code and checked its readiness in SettingsAI & agentsConnections. Follow the coding-agent setup guide on that computer.
- Explicit Developer access to the approved project, or Owner access on your own device. Pairing alone does not grant development access; review the device role. App-only access permits the shared app, without agents, source files or terminals.
- Keep the host awake, online and running Lyre. Prepare the project startup command if you want a preview; configure startup on the host.
Your provider account, subscription and API usage costs are separate from Lyre. Check the selected account before sending work. Off-network previews use the host account's application relay allowance; see current plan limits.
Open the right project and conversation
-
Connect to your computer
Open your saved connection on the phone. For a new connection, follow pairing with the host owner. In Library, check the computer name and select the approved project.
-
Choose Claude Code
Open an existing Claude Code conversation for that project, or start one with Claude Code selected in the chat box. Check the provider, account and available model before sending. Switching devices does not require switching providers.
-
Start with a bounded request
Ask about the current project before editing it. Review the response and any tool approval, then request one small change. Preparing requests and attachments covers the composer controls.
Example: fix a button that is hard to use on a phone
Use this example prompt for your own project after reproducing the problem. Replace the button name and screen with what you actually see.
Inspect the reservation page and explain why the Reserve button is
hard to tap on a narrow phone. Do not edit files yet.
Identify the relevant component and the smallest useful check.
After reviewing the explanation, send a specific follow-up:
Make the Reserve button easier to tap at a 390-pixel viewport.
Keep its text and reservation behavior. Limit edits to this issue,
run the relevant existing checks, and report exactly what ran.
For visual context, use the preview screenshot controls. Review the image and draft before sending it to the provider. These prompts are examples, not a report of a completed customer task.
Check the result yourself
-
Review the edit
Open Changes and inspect the actual files and diff. Check that the edit matches the agreed scope. See reviewing changes.
-
Try the original failure
Choose Open app, navigate to the reservation page and tap the button at the width where it failed. Verify that it is usable and still follows the intended reservation flow. A running process or an agent's completion message does not prove this.
-
Check before leaving the network
First verify the local connection. If you need access away from home, repeat the conversation and preview checks on mobile data before relying on them. Follow off-network connection checks.
The phone reaches the intended host and Claude Code conversation, the diff contains the expected change, the relevant checks have actual results, and the button works in the phone preview.
Recover an interrupted session
- The computer is offline
- Check host power, sleep, network and whether Lyre is running, then reconnect. Follow offline-host recovery. A phone cannot continue through an unreachable host.
- Claude Code is unavailable or refuses a request
- Ask the host owner to check installation, sign-in, account quota and model readiness in provider recovery. Reconnecting the phone does not replenish provider usage.
- The agent needs permission
- Read the command, files and scope in the provider approval flow. Developer operations are limited to approved projects, but allowed commands execute under the host account. A prompt or task mode does not grant permission.
- The preview fails or the phone disconnects
- Check the saved start command and terminal output on the selected host. After restoring connectivity, inspect the existing conversation and process before sending the task again or starting another copy. See preview recovery.
Stop work or remove this phone
To stop a turn, use the conversation's Stop control and inspect its resulting state. Closing the conversation or disconnecting the phone does not mean the agent or app has stopped. App and Agent have independent lifecycles.
To remove the phone's authority, the host owner opens Pair device and revokes the relevant device grant. Check that the phone can no longer reopen that project. See remove a device; uninstalling the phone client does not revoke its access.
