Install Lyre

Download Lyre for your computer and start from the Library.

Which download do I need?

Linux, 64-bit .deb (Debian, Ubuntu)

Get the latest version from the download page. Intel Macs aren’t supported yet. Pick the computer that will stay on while you work: your projects and agents run there.

Install and open it

macOS

  1. Open the .dmg

    Double-click the download.

  2. Drag Lyre to Applications

    Then open it from Applications. The Mac build is signed and notarized, so it opens normally.

Windows

  1. Run the Setup .exe

    Double-click the installer.

  2. If Windows SmartScreen appears

    The Windows build isn’t code-signed yet, so Windows may warn you. Choose More info, then Run anyway.

Linux

The current release provides a 64-bit .deb from the download page.

  1. Install the .deb

    Install it with your package manager (Debian, Ubuntu):

    sudo apt install ./Lyre-Foundation-*

    If Lyre warns that the Linux security sandbox is disabled, check the reason and supported recovery steps.

First-time setup

Lyre opens directly into the Library, or restores your selected work. Set up the parts you need as you go.

  1. Open or add a project

    Choose an existing folder from the Library. On an unconnected client, use Connect to reach the computer that runs your project.

  2. Connect a coding agent

    Use SettingsAI & agents on the host for provider installation and account setup. See the provider guide, or configure a local model.

  3. Start a small task

    Ask the agent to explain your project before requesting a change. Guided and Developer presentation choices remain available in Settings.

You’re ready when

your project is open on the intended host and an available agent answers your first request.

Install the terminal CLI or a standalone host

The npm package @lyrestudio/cli includes a terminal client and host daemon. Use it alongside a selected desktop host, or run a standalone host without the desktop UI. Follow the CLI quickstart for requirements, installation, provider setup and a first task; the CLI reference lists commands.

Phone and tablet apps

Android is available on Google Play in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States. The iPhone and iPad client needs a supplied compatible build. Check availability. When you have the app, pair it with your computer.

If it doesn’t open

Lyre shows a startup error
Quit and reopen it. Lyre shows a recovery option for common startup problems; startup troubleshooting has more.
Windows blocks the installer
Use More info → Run anyway, or ask your administrator if unsigned apps are blocked.
Updating
Lyre checks for updates itself. See updates.
